PHILLIPS Programs Spring Gala 2025
Ideas in Bloom: Together We SpringForward Gala
This year’s gala was an extraordinary gathering filled with warmth, laughter, and camaraderie. We all gathered at Hilton McLean Tyson’s Corner to celebrate the remarkable difference that PHILLIPS and SpringForward are making in the lives of our young people.
The evening began with a cocktail reception, during which gala attendees enjoyed the open bar and hors d’oeuvres while catching up with old friends and making new ones. Guests also had the opportunity to survey the raffle prize landscape before purchasing tickets for the raffle of their desired prize packages over the melodious sounds of a four-string quartet.
Attendees were then ushered into the banquet hall, where Shawn Yancy, News4 anchor and master of ceremony, kicked off the program with welcome remarks during dinner. The program featured remarkable performances from our student step dance team and a moving speech from entrepreneur and proud PHILLIPS graduate Ashley Graves. Later in the program, Agritecture's Henry Gordon-Smith was presented the 2025 Community Engagement award for his early leadership in helping design a vertical farm and hydroponic curriculum.
The live auction, always a crowd favorite, did not disappoint. Guests were involved in thrilling back-and-forths around coveted items, including a private dinner from world-renowned chef, Brigaid CEO, and gala co-chair Dan Giusti. The gala was capped by an after-party highlighted by the acclaimed DC dining house Pineapple and Pearls Sundae Bar.
All in all, it was a magnificent night during which attendees learned about the fantastic things going on at PHILLIPS and our big plans for SpringForward Ventures this year, including the 2,000-square-foot indoor hydroponic farm and the three high-tech greenhouses that we are breaking ground on. Thank you to all our attendees, and a special thank you to our sponsors, for whom the event would not have been possible. Your generous support allows us to make a difference.
