Speech & Language

At PHILLIPS, communication is key.

Speech and Language Therapy is provided by or under the supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist. Services can be provided individually, in groups, or through consultation with individual student teams.

Speech and language pathologists work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive communication in students.

Another important role of the speech-language pathologist is to identify and assess children at risk for reading and writing difficulties, provide phonological awareness intervention, and document reading and writing outcomes.

They collaborate with and train other professionals and parents to facilitate students’ academic, communication, and social skills in the educational environment.
